Who would have known that there would be such an authentic Sichuan restaurant smack down in the middle of Gurgaon? Central Plaza mall on Golf course road is a food hub that caters to all the offices around. It was mostly known for fast food until Peng You Quan opened on the Ground Floor.
You cannot miss it when you enter the mall and see Chinese lanterns. The place is casual and chilled with a lot of the happy hustle and bustle. The owners are an Indian-Chinese couple who seem passionate about their food. Their menu has hot pot, soups and killer dumplings. There also have a variety of meat, chicken, fish, seafood and vegetarian preparations for mains with the yummiest fried rice. We have been thrice already and are still craving to try more dishes. It is an excellent place for a slow meal with long conversations.
If you are going in a group of 4 or more, start with some pork dumplings (there are 16 of them in one portion) and hot pot (we had meat, mushrooms and Chinese cabbage). For mains, you can have egg or Yangzhou fried rice (prawn) and shredded pork with vegetables.
In a smaller group, you can have double fried meat with bread (This is delish), prawn in garlic sauce (ask them to reduce the amount of vermicelli)
Shellfish here comes with the shell so be prepared to get your hands dirty. We also hear they will be introducing more fish dishes soon.
