Prep Time: 10 minutes, Cook Time: 20 minutes, serves 2

1-2 bay leaves
2-3 cloves
1-2 cardamom
2 chopped onions
2 green chillies
1 Tablespoon crushed black pepper
400 gms paneer / cottage cheese
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoon fennel /jeera
Red chilli powder
Coriander/dhaniya powder
Garam masala
1 cup curd
Salt as per taste
9-10 Cashew-nuts (optional)


  • Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a pan. Add cloves, cardamom and bay leaves as it heats. Add chopped onions and chillies. Sautee them with turmeric till they are soft and pink. You can add cashew nuts if you like
  • Remove this from the stove, cool it and grind it with 1/4 cup water
  • Grind 9-10 black peppercorns
  • Heat oil in a pan and add fennel
  • Now add the onion paste and add ¼ teaspoon red chilli powder, ¼ teaspoon garam masala powder and ½ teaspoon coriander powder.
  • Once it cooks and turns brown, add beaten curd
  • Add salt and paneer cubes
  • Remove from stove after 5 minutes of resting and serve.
