Surprisingly enough (or maybe it is because we are too old now), we drank less on this trip and spent that time at cafes. It was also because alcohol is costly in Kolkata (even for someone travelling from Delhi)

Arsty Cafe

Top of the list, this place still has a piece of our heart. Corniness aside, we spent two afternoons here sipping on their yummy smoothies and coffees. It is a quirky little cafe you won’t be able to stop photographing and picking up quirky gifts for friends. Above all, they have a wonderful and warm team with whom you can have long conversations

We chanced upon Serafina when we got lost in Ballygunje looking for another bar. It is a beautiful Italian restaurant serving some killer cocktails in Quest Mall. They accept Gold and seem to have some great food. We loved the freshness of the tomatoes in the bruschetta — a special mention to their manager who took excellent care of us.

The Country House Cafe

Another cute cafe with fresh and yummy breakfast in Bhawanipur. We had some delicious coffee here with pancakes and omelette. It is an excellent place for a slow and long meal with creative interiors. We had a little chat with their nice owner here

Someplace Else Bar

British style Tavern in The Park hotel with gigs. Though an expensive place to hang out for long, check for happy hours — a good place to grab a beer in the middle of the day.

Moulin Rouge

You must visit Moulin Rouge for the real heritage value. It served as a watering hole for two generations before us. Though it is old and grungy, they play Beethoven live.

We thought Flury’s would be overrated, but they serve some good breakfast, teas and coffees. A must-visit for first timers like us.
